Dad and Grandma sweetly drove all the way from London, just for a quick dinner. That clearly meant that I had to pull out all the stops and find the best place I could take them. A nice, juicy steak was definitely the answer. And only the best for Papa and Grandma B.
I’d been at lectures all day, but put on a big smile for them. Okay, and the smile was a little bit for the fact that I knew I was having an amazing steak very, very soon.

Okay, let’s get down and dirty with the good stuff. Grandma backed away from starters (aka she would be munching on ours) but Dad and I saw it through to prep ourselves for our steaks. He went for the Blue Swimmer Crab and Avocado Remoulade with Wasabi Lime Dressing.
My love for goats cheese pulled me to order the Crispy Goats Cheese Medallions with Caramelised Apples and Baby Spinach. Om nom nom nom. I don’t really like fried things all that much, but I still enjoyed these.
Alright, all that was small talk. I know this is what you’ve been waiting for. It was what I’d been waiting for all week. Actually, I’ve been waiting for this moment since being back in Bath. The time has come… The steaks.
Check out these gorgeous prime fillets, cooked to a medium-rare perfection.
And look how sweet the béarnaise sauce is! In a little edible wafer pot.
We ordered some sides to go with these bad boys – Buttered Leaf Spinach, Steamed Seasonal Vegetables, and I couldn’t resist an order of the (very generous) Sea Salt and Black Pepper Fries. That’s such a pretty way to say fries with salt and pepper on them.
We prepped our plates and got down to business.
It’s okay, it just meant I had more room to stuff myself with sides and be super healthy with all this extra veg! It also meant that by the time it came to order dessert, I was pretty full and didn’t want to force myself. I think I’ve had a bit too much sugar recently though…
But are you serious? Vanilla Crème Brûlée with Chocolate Chip Cookie? Sticky Toffee Pudding? Chocolate Espresso Mousse with Salted Peanut Brittle? Belgian Waffle? CHOCOLATE FONDUE?
I’m going to take a mate the next time I come for steak (and oh, I’ll be back) and order plates of dessert. With cocktails. By the bar. I think I’ve just started planning the best night ever.
