Lunch at Venkel, Amsterdam

I’d stuffed myself with fat, sugar and cholesterol so far on this trip. Enough was enough. I needed salad in my body, and I needed it now.

Venkel is a little gem. I discovered them on Instagram, and after seeing their big, beautiful salads, I knew this was a place I needed to visit.

It’s a good thing most places in Amsterdam have an English menu, otherwise I’d be spending half my time on Google Translator. Phew.

Their menus are seasonal, and their Fall Salads looked very good.

I was feeling a little poorly, so I sat down and ordered a Ginger Tea.

I got some hot water and freshly sliced ginger to put into it. I’m in love.

Sadly, I was a little too poorly to stay and had to order a takeaway. I wanted to impress you with gorgeous photos of salads, but I had to bike home and go to bed, so I got a takeaway instead. Sorry guys! Commence my 15 minute journey turning into an hour and a half because I got lost. I am useless.

I was genuinely nearly in tears by the time I’d gotten home. At least by the time I felt better, I had this box of goodness in bed to cheer me up.

I’m pretty sure it was the first taste of vegetables I’ve had all weekend. I had the Autumn Piece Salad – Beluga Lentils, Brussels Sprouts, Chicory, Chestnuts, Sprouts, Cranberries & Walnuts with Cranberry Vinaigrette.

100% recommend. I’ll be back.

Oh my God that salad has all my favourite things in, delicious! Sorry you weren't feeling well, it's horrible when you're out somewhere new and you can't enjoy it properly.

Love your blog by the way, it's by far my new favourite! xx
