They’re my favourite brand here because they use 100% coconut water and nothing else (for the original obviously, which is the only one I drink, and the others only use natural flavour essences!). So yeah, it’s pretty great stuff.
I don’t know if any of you are as into coconut water as I am, but once I started drinking it, I was hooked! I wanted to share with you my top 5 favourite things about coconut water and why I started drinking it.
1. It tastes bloody good!
I love the taste of coconut water. It’s sweet, but not too sweet. Is that simple enough?
2. I can drink it wherever and wherever
There’s nothing like cutting open a fresh coconut and drinking it through a straw (even scooping out the flesh for after!). However, coconuts in this country are a lot pricier than in Asia, and it’s a lot of hassle. I can’t exactly pop a coconut in my bag and drink it on the bus to work (well I can, but it would be heavy and messy). Having 100% coconut water means it’s delicious and I can have it on the go.
3. It’s not, well, a crap drink
It’s one thing being delicious, and another thing that it’s not full of crap. It’s low acidity, no fat and no sugar, which is something you can’t say about lots of other drinks. It’s the healthier alternative without having to sacrifice on taste!
4. Oh, the benefits!
The benefits of coconut water deserve a whole article to themselves. It’s considered to be ‘Nature’s Sports Drink’ since it has many of the same benefits such as electrolytes calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium, but in their natural form. I love having it right after the gym to replace my electrolytes!
5. It makes you sexy
I don’t mean that holding it makes you look cool and cultured (although maybe it does). I mean that because it’s so rich in nutrients, it’ll make you feel fuller for longer, and the fat content is so low you don’t have to worry about putting on weight! It also apparently helps you clear your skin and moisturises it from within.
And there you have it! Just a nice little list I thought I’d share with you to explain a bit more about why I’m working with ZICO and making all these recipes for you. I really hope you’ve enjoyed them so far!
