Stories is at Broadway Market, one of my favourite places on the weekend. We came on a Sunday, which is a lot less chaotic than the Saturday markets.
The place comes to life with artwork around the walls by local artists, and it was clearly jungle themed at the present moment. It does it all – boozy brunches, evening cocktails, you name it.
They were teasing me with the food already. Hubba hubba.
This was definitely a Bloody Mary bar. Not for me, but I bet Boy would be excited!
I’ve never been to Stories before, so I was super excited when they invited me down!
Boy arrived after I went around like a creep taking pictures of everything.
He was keen for a Bloody Mary, but changed his mind at the last moment for a classic OJ.
I had their Green Juice, which was delicious and pineappley.
Oh, and Boy got a coffee too. Divaaaaa.
The best thing is sharing. Sorry, correction – the best thing is ordering 3 meals, sharing and pretending it’s okay because you’re technically not being a greedy pig, even though you totally are. We share 3 plates and the fat-ass title together.
We debated hard over what to order. Their most ordered dish is the classic Avocado on Sour Dough Toast with Lime, Red Pepper Flakes and Watercress Salad. Adding a poached egg was a no brainer.
Bliss (the manager) and I debated over whether I should get the Huevos Rancheros or the Vegetable Hash since they’re both so good.
We eventually had to go for the first. It was with fried eggs, wheat tortilla, avocado, tomato and red pepper salsa, black bean sauce, jalapeño and coriander salsa. It’s super indulgent, especially since the tortillas are deep fried (and DELICIOUS).
You can add pulled pork to it, which I didn’t because of me not eating piggys, which made Boy sad as his was very excited for some pork loving. Sozza.
To top it all off, we had to go for something sweat. Our choice was the Butter Milk Pancakes with Berries, Banana and Maple Flavoured Syrup. Again I had to avoid the option to add bacon, which sucked because pancakes and bacon are usually my favourite!
It was drenched with maple syrup all the way through to absolute perfection. Not in a soggy way, but in a DELICIOUS way. Can you spot the banana peaking through the layers?
I had no idea what to expect to be honest. I thought it’d be good, but it was fantastic. From having no expectations, Boy and I were blown away with this gem!
I think Boy’s favourite was the Huevos Rancheros, but I liked it all. Sharing is always the best option, and I highly recommend it so you get to try more!
It’s definitely making the boozy brunch list, if ya know what I mean.
