The BEST thing has happened.
The amazing Smokehouse from Islington has opened up in Chiswick. TRA LA LA LA BEST THING EVER!
Say hello to my new local!
It’s everything I ever wanted so close to my house.
Pub, restaurant, beet garden, whisky room (yeah that one not for me). Holy moly.
They have OVER 90 WHISKIES AND OVER 60 CRAFT BEERS.
Since it’s summer, why sit and eat indoors when there’s a perfectly nice garden outside?
Mama Bridges gets cold very easily, so at least she could wrap up warm here.
The painful moment when you realise your mum looks younger than you.
There’s only one thing to turn to – the menu.
It didn’t take us long to order. It was Sunday, so we were of course going to have roast. The Smoked Roast Chicken was for 3 to share. Ming, Mum and I – it was like destiny.
I stuck to water for the drinks. No cheeky Sunday beers for me.
Ming had a tea.
I’d actually never been to their restaurant in Islington, but I’ve always heard the food is insanely good.
And man oh man, was it. Our starters, phwwoooooarrrr.
We shared the Burnt Leeks, Portobello, Truffle Oil, Parmesan & Cackleberry Farm Egg, although I wish I didn’t have to share. SO good.
Mum and I also got the Somerset Goat Tacos with Chipotle and Green Salsa.
Then the smoked chicken. Oh sweeeeeet baby mama.
I’ve never had smoked chicken before. It was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted.
Then the perfect roasties and some greens.
If you thought the meal ended there, you were wrong.
To be honest, I thought it was ending there too. Until I saw the Double D Tart on the menu.
At first, it merely sparked my curiosity, so I asked our waitress what it was. Oh, just a gorgeous blend of coco pops, white chocolate, nougat, peanut butter, chocolate ganache, topped with pistachio ice cream. It’s based on a Double Decker chocolate bar. No biggie.
It’s just so beautiful.
But we had it with Peppermint Teas so it’s totally okay, right?
I’ve been here about 4 more times since this post. Amazing every time!
