I’m a big lover of breakfast, but especailly on the weekends. Places are filled, everyone is relaxed, and there’s just a better vibe than looking at empty tables on weekdays. However, what I don’t like is the fact that you usually have to queue for a table because it’s SO packed. My love for the breakfast game and impatient traits meant that the solution was to wake up early and get there before it opens.
Convincing Boy was easy because he loves breakfast too. But it didn’t hurt that I ordered a cab so we could snooze the way there.
Brickwood Coffee & Bread is somewhere I wish was closer to my home. I’d been drooling over their pictures on Instagram for the longest time, but as soon as my cousin Hamish went there and raved about it, that was the last straw.
And here we are.
It was a great space, with more seating than we thought (some tables downstairs and in their outdoor area).
AND WAIT – TIM TAM MUFFINS?
We nabbed a table for four because it had good lighting, but were told that it’s a communal table for once the place fills up. It’s okay, we’re quick eaters.
First, coffees and juices.
Then, there was this….
Kumara (Sweet Potato) with Poached Eggs, Halloumi, and Kale Pesto, Pine Nuts on Sourdough.
Vegan week was officially over, kids.
At least I was staying meat-free for now. Which sadly meant I couldn’t have a bite of Boy’s dish, as much as I wanted to.
Breakfast Burrito with Screambled Eggs, Hash Nuggets (OH MY GOD), Carnitas (Pork), Red Pepper Salsa, Guacamole and Sour Cream on the Side.
It wasn’t presented the prettiest (obvs it’s more about the taste), but Boy made it better for me. Trooper.
Then, classic us, we get something on the side to share…
French Toasted Brioche with Hints of Orange & Cinnamon and a Side of Vanilla Mascarpone.
We’ve lucked out with French Toast recently. Every one that we’ve ordered has been light, fluffy and delicious.
In fact, all the dishes were great. I enjoyed mine the best though.
Boy liked his too, but I think it wasn’t as phenominal as he was expecting.
I think he was just jealous…
I know, I would be too.
