Lunch at Soul Burger, Sydney

You all know I love a good Instagram stalk to find new places to go to eat. I honestly think it’s the best way to find out the seriously great places and cut out all the tourist traps that you find online. My ever-growing love for vegan food (and mission to completely turn) was on full-force in Sydney since everything is so bloody delicious.

Then, it happened. I stumbled on the mothership of vegan food. A newly-opened planted-based burger place. Holy bejeezus.

I instantly fell in love with everything about the place. The decor, branding, menu…

The best thing about the menu is that there isn’t too many things on it. 7 burgers, 3 chips, 4 milkshakes. Boom. Although everything looked insane, it didn’t take too long to decide what I wanted.

I thought I’d be good and not go for a shake. Ming and Hamish had the same idea. Mama Bridges thought differently, and went for a Strawberry Coconut Milkshake.

They’re cocounut-based, so it had a little coconut taste along with it.

And HOLY SHIT WAS IT THE BEST THING I’VE EVER TASTED. Like a McDonald’s strawberry milkshake, plus some coconut, plus vegan. I literally sprinted to the counter to order a Chocolate one.

Then, the food.

We ordered two fries. First, the Green Fries, which are Herb seasoned thick-cut beer battered fries with aioli. These were my fave.

The Kumara Fries (sweet potato fries with aioli) were good too, but I’ve had better sweet potato fries.

We went back later that week and tried the Red Fries, which I also highly recommend.

And then burgers. Oh, the burgers. Ming had the Mushroom Burger – Field Mushroom, roasted peppers, lettuce, tomato, herbed mayo, pesto.

Hamish went for something that I can’t remember but was also delicious…

Ming and Hamish both loved theirs, but I think I had the winner.

The Classic Cheese Burger (plant-based beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, tomato relish and mustard aioli), plus exta avocado.

I’m not too sure why I made everyone pick up their burgers and smile with them, but of course I did it too.

Next time, Boy and I shared one of these bad boys and the Spicy Sausage burger too. MMMMMMMMMMM.

Then it arrived. The Chocolate Coconut Shake.

You need to order a shake. That’s all I’m saying. The only thing is, next time I went we ordered 3 chocolate milkshakes. I got the last one that was poured out, so Hamish and Natasha’s were thick and creamy and delicious. I got the milk with zero ice-cream which was so awful that I had to leave it. So just a warning – be a man and say something unlike me!

But these burgers were so good. Too good. Meat lovers and vegans alike, GO GO GO GO GO GO GO.

Bianca, can you share how you use instagram to find these seriously amazing places to eat? I always find myself resorting to TripAdvisor whenever I travel and eventually being disappointed..
