The South Africa posts have started! YAAAAAAASSSSS!
As you might already know (I may have mentioned it on my Instagram) I spent a glorious 10 days over in SA. Boy’s Mama lives out in Joburg, and it was the first time I’ve ever met her. I was absolutely crapping myself on the plane, but of course she was an absolute stunner of a person.
Boy wanted to go to Living Room as soon as I arrived. I think he saw it online before he came over, and he had it set in his mind that we would go. At least it’s not hard to keep him happy!
Not only was the lift the coolest I’ve ever seen, the rooftop was absolutely beautiful. Apparently the weekends are absolutely packed and buzzing, so it was good for pictures that we went on a quiet weekday.
So much green! And there was even a little shop.
We were all absolutely starving. Living Room is big on their plants, so they had a great amount of veggie options. Huzzzzzahhhhh!
Oh, and a lovely little list of cocktails.
I was also so tired from all the studying that I’ve been doing, and probably from the flight. I needed to perk up, but for some reason the only type of coffee they offer is either an Irish Coffee or Cappucino. Cappucino it was. I never have normal milk in coffees anymore, so I felt a little sickly from it.
Nothing cocktails can’t fix.
Nikki, Boy’s Mum, went for the Botanica.
I had the Minty Magic Unicorn, which was super sweet and delicious.
Boy had a beer. FRIDAY – Cute right?
I couldn’t resist the hammock chairs for very long. I’d be damned if I left there without a picture on one.
However, swinging around didn’t last for too long, especially not when these babies arrived.
I was eyeing up the platters, especially the #MeatMustFall platter. Great name, right? It’s a “delectable” selection of roast tomatoes, crumbed mushrooms, carrot sticks, marinated olives, halloumi and deep fried bell pepper skewers with hummus and tzatziki.
Nikki was eyeing up The Buzz Salad Jar – Butternut, beetroot, feta and pumpkin seeds on a bed of rocket.
I was also determined to get a toastie, although it turns out it wasn’t as toasted as I had imagined. It was the Veg-Head – Hummus, avocado, red onion and baby tomatoes. All it needed was some chilli jam and more toastiness, in my opinion.
Although it did come with a side of chips. Mmmmmm.
We also ordered Butternut & Sweet Potato Oven Baked Fries. Boy did warn me that the sweet potatoes in South Africa were all white sweet potatoes, which blew my mind. I kept picking up the butternut squash ones thinking it was sweet potato. I think I prefer normal sweet potatoes…
Boy also got himself some Buffalo Wings.
What a glorious spread.
I left with red cheeks and high spirits. Back to being on my best behaviour with Boy’s Mama and fearing for my safety everywhere I went.
