It’s a little shitty when you go to one of the most beautiful places on Earth…. and the weather is crap. It was the second day in a row that the visibility up on Table Mountain was so poor that it was closed. What to do? Hop in the car and SEE SOME PENGUINS LIKE BIANCA ALWAYS WANTED TO!
We weren’t originally going to Boulders Beach (home of the penguins in Cape Town!) since we didn’t have enough time. Oh, how everything works out for a reason. Boy decided to take us on the long, beautiful route.
Where we HAD to stop and take some pictures.
There’s like a billion more where those came from, but I didn’t want to bore you with pictures of me attempting to pose/with hair whipping most of my face. At least it wasn’t as bad as the woman who was sprawled out with her two young children taking photos of her for a solid 20 minutes. Do it for the ‘gram, lady.
Anyway, we got there in the end, and that’s where I met a real life Glen. I’ve never seen a penguin not in the zoo before, which is a little sad if you think about it.
I was OBSESSED. Boy literally had to drag me away. If he hadn’t mentioned the word ‘food’ I probably would have build myself a shack and covered myself in black and white paint to be one with the penguins.
Boy had planned to take me to The Brass Bell, however as we drove past Cape to Cuba (which was next door) he suddenly exclaimed “OH this place is great I forgot all about it!”. We decided to have a peak before deciding on where to eat, but once I got a glimpse of Cape to Cuba there was no turning back. This place was insane.
How much fun does this look?!
That’s the bar area above (yes that’s sand on the floor), and here’s the restaurant area.
We decided to grab a seat at the bar as, well, the lighting was better and IT HAD A SANDED FLOOR DAMMIT.
Only the Tapas Menu is available at the bar, but that worked fine for me.
I got myself a Strawberry Daiquiri, whilst Boy went for a boring beer. I’m fancy.
And, hello snacks!
Boy got some Baby Calamari Tubes with Smoked Paprika, Capers and Red Peppers.
As well as some Oysters.
My picks were the Potato Peels with Cream Cheese and Sweet Chilli Sauce.
It was a little floury, but that didn’t stop me.
I also got the Three Corn Fritter with Sweet Chilli Sauce. It was like a big fried ball, but that didn’t stop me either.
The tapas was alright, but great drinks (well, drink) and HOW MUCH FUN IS THIS PLACE?
