There are a few stops you have to make when you’re in San Fransisco. One of them revolves around sugar, doughy, delicious treats. Yep, I’m talking about Mr. Holmes Bakehouse!
They’re known for making the ‘Cruffin’ (hybrid between a croissant and muffin) famous, as well as their awesome branding. It’s not really a surprise that they now have shops also in Seoul and LA. What I was surprised about though, was their crazy lines. I did a little research the day before I went (I wanted to go on my first day but they close pretty early) and I found out that the Cruffin doesn’t go on sale until an hour after they open, so there’s a normal line and a Cruffin line. Holy moly.
Initially I walked to the back of the queue, until 2 minutes later when I remembered that I absolutely hate queuing (and it’s windy as hell in San Fran). I also realised this was just the Cruffin line, and there was no line for everything else.
WHO NEEDS CRUFFINS ANYWAY. SO WHAT THAT TODAY IS THE ROCKY ROAD FLAVOUR. I WASN’T EVEN THAT EXCITED I SWEAR.
The shop is teeny tiny, but everything is so well done.
I wanted to bad to take a picture in front of the sign (I’ve seen it a billion times on Instagram and it makes such a good shot), or just take a picture of it without people in it, but these bitches were hogging it the entire time. Greedy, am I right?
Good thing the sight of the pastries took my mind off it a little.
What do you do when you want everything?
You get a really cool box. You need at least six items to get one, which wasn’t a problem at all.
It’s nuts how the brand is so great that they even sell other things than baked goods.
But I was saving my money for baked goods only.
P.S: Their kitchen behind is HUGE! So much bigger than the shop. Try sneak a peak if you get the chance.
After asking what things were, what the best things were, and pondering what I wanted the most (picking only six things is hard!), we had our box ready.
I was very happy I dragged everyone there for a pre-breakfast treat. The only thing is I wish the staff were a nicer (a couple of them were a little rude – a smile and politeness costs nothing!) and that maybe someone would wait in line for me and get me a Cruffin! Anyone? No?
Back to stalking their Instagram account and drooling over their different flavours everyday…
