Bottomless Brunch at Jar Kitchen, London

Bottomless brunch was made to be enjoyed for hours, picking at your food whilst you sip away at whatever beverage is constantly being poured in front of you (you never really know if you’ve had 2 or 7 glasses). My problem is that I’m always absolutely starving. On top of that, the temptation builds more and more during the photo session, so as soon as I put the camera down, the food is demolished in a matter of minutes.

I was hoping that would change today, but judging by how delicious the menu looked, it seemed pretty unlikely. But I’m all about defying the odds.

The place itself is super cute – they’ve done really well with the space.

But let’s be honest, you’re here because you want to know what to chow down on. Although we had bottomless brunch, we didn’t do a starter, main and dessert, but instead snuck items off the brunch menu. I’m not sure if you can do this usually (not that you need to, the brunch menu looks amazing), but as I was representing Breakfast London and I’m a nice kind of gal, we managed to. It’s all about getting that shot!

My recommendation with all breakfasts is sharing. Two savoury dishes and one sweet is the key to a happy morning. Our sweet came in the form of the French Toast with Berries (you can get either bacon or berries, but we know I’m no longer about that life).

Yes, you needed all 3 pictures. Although small, it’s a perfect sharing dish for the middle.

Boy had his sights set on the BLAT Bap with JK Ketchup. The BLAT stands for bacon, spinach, avocado and tomatoes. And what a beauty it was.

Sadly for me, I wasn’t able to have any. Bastard. I chowed a little of the bun though, which was so good. Boy said it perfectly absorbed the moisture of the fillings.

And finally, the Smashed Avocado, Lime, Poached Eggs, Chilli, Sourdough + House Cured Gin and Beetroot Salmon. They use Clarence Court eggs, which I love. The salmon was, of course, for Boy.

The food is beautifully presented, of fantastic quality, and absolutely delicious. The place is run by two lovely ladies, Lucy and Jenny, so service is on point too! It’s worth battling through Covent Garden for this.

P.S. my optimism of a long, leisurely boozy brunch was short lived – we scoffed the food in an impressive yet shameful amount of time. But can you blame us? As Ross said, if you don’t eat fast, you don’t eat!
