Vegan Comfort Food in Brighton

First of all, I’m sorry I haven’t shared this post earlier. It was on a different camera (my older, less cool one) and I forgot all about it. I know. Slap on the wrist for me.

Secondly, holy crap. Are you ready for what you’re about to witness? THIS FOOD IS INSANE.

Beelzebab make the best damn vegan comfort food in Brighton, and it’s at The Hope & Ruin Pub in Brighton. Luke and I went for our anniversary trip, and I sure as hell made sure I did my research before we came.

That was back in October, so Pickles was just a wee pup!

We couldn’t leave her behind, could we?

We grabbed a couple of ciders, and started having to slowly eliminate options from the menu. Why couldn’t we just eat everything? Because then we’d be fat and poor, that’s why.

It was hard, but we did it, with the help of some seriously intense discussions with the lovely girl who took our order (in-between playtime with Pickles, of course. You can’t get anywhere with this dog).

They are all about the hot dogs, so we got a classic Krautwerk (tofu dog, sauerkraut, gherkin, crispy onion, mustard & ketchup) and a Chilli Cheese Dog (tofu dog with chilli non carne, melty cheese & diced onion).

Oh, and a side of Fooled Pork Fries – Fries loaded with BBQ style jackfruit lathered in BBQ sauce.

HOLY CRAP, AM I RIGHT? Vegan or not, are you with me?

The rest of our Brighton trip was fuelled with such amazing food (Terre A Terre, Infinity Foods Kitchen, Loving Hut). I’m already planning my next trip back. You know, for Pickles to roam the beach, obviously.

Yummy – that all looks so tasty! My friend is a vegetarian, and we recently found a place in London (other than Ikea) that does veggie hot dogs, so I will have to take her for a trip to Brighton to try these ones, as they look even better!
