Jerilyn is a gorgeous vlogger, mummy and human. I’ve known her for years, ever since she starred in a TV show with my sister Ming, but any talks you have when you’re 15 are rarely on a deeper level (apart from between a few of my closest friends, of course).
So when she invited me along to one of her Luv Moon events in Singapore, I knew it was going to be a lot of fun to get to know her, along with some old and new faces, a little better.
We all very quickly got cosy at Lloyd’s Inn and instantly wanted to move in.
Can you guess the dress code?
Ming and I went early to help her out, which wasn’t much of a chore because I love setting things up and decorating!
Double-chin (okay, at least more than 4 – I can do a scary amount) but I’m throwing sprinkles so who cares.
The idea behind the event was to thrive off each other’s gorgeous feminine energy, getting to know each other better and participating in activities to get our year off to a good, fresh and spiritual start.
We kicked things off with these babies from The Novel Encounter. They’re books that are wrapped up, with only a little description at the front to indicate what kind of book it is.
SO fun. I’d love to do a dinner party where people would determine where they sit based on which book was in front of them that they wanted to read.
I picked the thinnest book, thinking I’d be clever. But then I got such book envy after we unwrapped them – some of the books I’d heard of before and was dying to read them! That bit me in the ass.
Then, oh, the spread of food. We’d been picking bits and pieces all afternoon, but it was almost time to dig in.
Not before taking super-sassy photos, using the food as props.
Am I sensually putting a piece of cracker on my forehead? Yes. I needed something vegan (obviously), and the grapes were taken! I’m definitely rocking it though.
The next activity was my favourite. We all wrote down 3 things we wanted to let go off this year, and 3 things we wanted to bring into our lives.
I won’t dwell on what I’ve decided to let go of, but I want to bring in:
- Positive energy & more laughter
- Discipline for health & work ethic
- Time dedicated to self-learning, doing new things & socialising
- Make deeper relationships
I know that’s 4, but everyone’s lists were so good – someone had said that last one and I decided I wanted to steal it too!
If you’ve got 5 minutes (on the tube, on the loo…) it’s definitely worth writing out, regardless when it’s for. New year, new month, new week, new day. I’m tempted to make a pretty graphic from it and put it as my phone lock image so it’s always there to remind me!
To finish the day off, the most talented girl I know was persuaded to sing for us.
Ming played a rendition of Atlas Hands by Benjamin Francis Leftwich – one of my favourite songs. She’s also got a new track out soon, which she’s worked on with a couple of very talented guys, so be sure to stay tuned for it!
